Up to 4 students can be in a team however you can also enter as an individual. Individual and team entries are judged together.
We have a large team of judges who are either scientists or engineers and/or employees working within the energy/engineering industry.
Judging takes place the day you drop off your projects and doors are closed for confidentiality. We have three teams of judges, the first choose their top 6 projects in each category, then we have the second and third teams do the same.
Once the top 6 projects have been agreed we have a final moderation of the top projects to ensure a due and fair process.
The teams consider the following whilst looking at projects:
- How creative and inventive overall
- How clearly the information method/poster/display is presented
- Is there creative use of materials
- Is the project a result of careful planning
- How unique or innovative is the idea
- How technically accurate is the model design.
- Is the display visually appealing.
